A newspaper notice of Orton & Halliwell's deaths is reproduced in Alan Sheridan's 1972 novel "Vacation", which purports to be a collection of documents created by a man in the last week of his life in 1967 planning and justifying suicide.

Sheridan was an interesting character himself: early translator of Foucault and other French theorists, wrote some novels about gay life. There may be a submerged gay theme to "Vacation", but it's long ago that I read it.
